Warner Music Group has announced their new partnership with music streaming app, Shazam. The alliance will allow Warner to discover and sign new acts to a Shazam branded label. Warner mentioned the alliance will also boost it’s marketing campaigns and strategies for their current and future roster on WMG.
Shazam will be able to identify unsigned talent by combining WMG’s global A&R expertise with Shazam’s proprietary fan activity data. While at the same time, the app’s unique promotion will empower artists to engage with the fans who “Shazamed” them, enabling fans to continue to support the artist.
Moreover, this will allow WMG to see the deep analytics of the 420 million users in over 200 countries, which includes the new music, new artists, and most importantly it will show which song or artist is creating buzz. WMG will get notified when a new artist or song premieres on Shazam. All labels under WMG will be able to gain access to data on fan/supporter behavior, which then allow WMG to set-up a special marketing campaign. WMG will engage more with the supporters and people this way. Fans are always the reason for a label’s and artist’s success.
