Artist Name: Jayd Ink
The Journey of an emerging artist, is a journey of ups and downs, triumphs and learning experiences. Celebrating the triumphs is what makes the journey exciting for an artist; and for a fan, it’s about feeling like your on that journey with the artist. With this latest release from Jayd Ink she paints us a picture of her most recent journey to Atlanta. We got a chance to ask her a couple questions about her trip to Atlanta.
Your favourite thing about the Atlanta music scene?
I love the open mic scene out there. They show a lot of love to independent and up coming artists, there’s always something going on everyday of the week.
How is the culture different from what your used to?
The culture is predominately black, which is very different than Toronto is that sense. They got that whole Southern Hospitality down there for sure, I love that. Everyone does music or is associated to it somehow.
What’s the difference in inspiration from 401W to At.Lanta?
Well, 401w is a sensual song where as At.Lanta is about living and being in the moment. I kinda just picked up and went out there. I needed a change of scenery and culture for awhile….and I had a great time. It’s also about taking your own advice regardless of opinions and point of views. I had a really great time creating this song and just, doing what I love in general. Nothing beats that.
Has this trip helped you grow as an artist?
Definitely, I grow as I experience new things. My creativity has heighten a bit. Despite the type of music I put out I do a little bit of every thing. I think I’ve grown overall though. Just being in a different city for awhile can change your perspective on things.
What key takeaways do you have to share from your experience in Atlanta?
As a upcoming artist you have to be patient and prepared. You never know who you’re going to run into and what type of situations your going to be placed in.
