An in-demand songwriter and gifted vocalist, Sway Clarke II is carving out his own path. One of 8 children born to a Cuban and Jamaican family in Toronto, he was raised on a mixture of hip-hop culture and soul music alongside a fascination with 90’s British guitar music and songwriting. These disparate influences inform his cosmopolitan sound, bringing together elements of soul and contemporary r&b with wittily clever and introspective lyrics wit under an umbrella of immaculately addictive present day pop.
Recently contributing a song to the new Tinie Tempah album “Demonstration”, he features as vocalist on the tracks chorus too, as Tinie was so impressed with his guide vocal that it ended up being used on the finished record.
His first solo offering, ‘I Don’t Need Much’, inspired by a recent move to Berlin, is a spirited ode to the experience moving to a new city, with its sensations of liberation, self-sufficiency and the search for a good time, set to an intoxicatingly woozy late-night wall of sound.
