Introducing Singer, songwriter, producer, rapper, and engineer, Maurice to the A&R Report. Maurice is a 17 year old musical phenom. Maurice was always incredibly into music as a child. Following his 8th grade graduation, Maurice applied for a ‘Summer Company Grant’ with Ottawa City Hall; in which he had to put together a major business plan. He was ultimately awarded the grant, which allowed him to build his own studio from scratch and start his own production & engineering business. From there on, Maurice was open for business as a 14 year old.

It was in 2009 that Maurice started to take the actual singing aspect more serious. His older sister, Kelsey, bullied him into singing on a few songs, and he really enjoyed the feedback and praise he was receiving. Rapping was fun to him, but he found himself falling in love with singing a lot more. In 2010, he officially entered the world of R&B as a member of RetroFuture, a singing duo he formed with his sister Kelsey. The group earned lots of praise and in 2012 gained radio play on one of the most renowned radio stations across Canada, the Hot 89.9, when Maurice was just 16 years old.
In the summer of 2013, Maurice established a solo career that has gotten a lot of industry executives very excited. Maurice records, composes, and produces his own material, while also collaborating with industry veterans such as Grammy Nominated producer Jerrin Howard (Wale & Miguel, “Lotus Flower Bomb”) and Arthur McArthur (Drake & Lil Wayne, “Uptown”, Big Sean, “My House”). In anticipation for his debut solo EP titled “Paramount” that will be released January 13th, 2014, Maurice will release a new song on the 13th of every month. The 8-track body of work will be primarily composed and written by the singer/songwriter and it will also include production by the aforementioned Jerrin Howard and Arthur McArthur, as well as J Anthony (Kevin McCall’s Tru Freshman Production Team), and Canadian producers Emerson Brooks (APG/Atlantic), Goldstripes and The Auracle. Paramount allows us inside Maurice’s conscious, as it marks a new beginning for him formerly known as “J Fizzo”.
With new management under the DMG brand and a renewed direction, Maurice’s future is very bright; and at just 17 years old, the Universe is the limit for this bright soul. Check out some music via Soundcloud below:
