If you’re a fan of Gucci Mane or Lil B’, Father is right up your alley.
When I’m not buried in my e-mails sifting through the dozens of music submissions I receive daily, I often log-on to SoundCloud and let the shuffle feature be my guide. You’d be pleasantly surprised by all of the quality music that exists via this platform.
Before Drake put his stamp on ILoveMakonnen, my friend and mentor Rahim Wright (Digital Marketing Manager at Atlantic Records) introduced me to OVO’s newest signee and his video for “Club Going Up On A Tuesday”. The song and video resonated with me so much, that I began searching the internet for more of his music to check out.
It was on this day that I realized that the shuffle feature never fails. I expected to hear music different than anything I’ve heard before but nothing could have prepared me for what I would hear next.
“Said she didn’t want to keep it. WHOO! Look at gawd.” You have to admit, that’s one heck of an opening line. The spiritual and moral implications of these lyrics are not for the faint of heart and neither is Young Hot Ebony, brought to you by the Atlanta native.
“Look At Wrist” featuring ILoveMakonnen and Key is just one of many tracks off of YHE that will get your juices flowing, keep your head nodding and make you say “wait, did he just say that?”
There is no doubt that I LOVE Makonnen but Father has slowly but surely become my new favorite.
If you’re into a wide variety of music, do yourself a favor by taking a step outside of the proverbial Drake hit-maker machine and check out Young Hot Ebony. Don’t worry… you can thank me later.
