When I think of Texas music, I can’t help but instantly think chopped and screwed. That slowed down sound you just ride and vibe out to. Some of the biggest name is music hail from Texas like Bun B, Pimp C, Scarface, Paul Wall,Slim Thug, Mike Jones and a host of others. With Cities Like Toronto and Atlanta running the rap game, you can’t help but wonder who’s got next. Thats not to say Texas is lacking the talent! El Paso representative Khalid for example, has been buzzing like crazy on the R&B side. Deezie Brown is another one of the fresh young talent’s coming out of Texas who’s flow shouldn’t be ignored.
Deezie Brown represents East Basthrop, a small city about 30 miles southeast of Austin. The population hasn’t even broken 10,000, but don’t think that means you won’t find talent there. When I first pressed play on “Anna Wintour Every Winter”, I knew that this wasn’t just some kid that woke up and decided he wanted to be a rapper. He has found his voice and it shows. His delivery is seasoned and peaks your interest. His rhymes are well written and witty.
Deezie’s love for music started back when his mother bought him a Bone Thugs-N-Harmony cassette tape when “Crossroads” had just dropped and everyone was recording over old tapes on their cassette players.
“Music when I was younger gave me so much drive, it moved me to be excited and to be emotional. I could go to music when I was feeling a certain way and would build a sense of exhilaration and serenity. I knew then that this was something I wanted to pursue. I use to freestyle over Warren G “Regulators” all the time. I’ve been rapping since I was seven years old this is just something that was meant for me.“
Deezie has been in the studio prepping for the upcoming project that should be out sometime this year. If the first release of the year is a taste of whats to come, then I will definitely have my ears open for Deezie Brown. Press play on the Young Antho & SB95 produced single below and let us know if you think he’s an artist to watch.
